Portable gaming

So I finally decided to buy a portable gaming console and I decided to go with…. a PSP. I must admit, it screams hardcore gaming, much more than a DSi does (at least to me).

That said, I must admit the selection of games, after looking at it, is pretty slim. But given the fact that this is a platform that I’ll only use here and there on the few times I’m on the move, it won’t be as much of an issue.

Right now I’ve got Rachet and Clank that came with the console as well as Burnout: Legends, which I didn’t realize was that old (2005). As far as future titles, I figure God of War and Madden 10 will probably be the only other titles of interest for a while.

On the PC front, I’m now running Windows 7 RC1 on my new Vertex 60GB SSD. The thing is very fast but you get used to the new speed in no time and then you don’t think it’s that fast anymore until you move to another machine.

I can boot in about 30 seconds and my laptop at work literally takes more than 4 minutes to do the same.
I put most of my apps on a 1TB WD Black drive so I’m golden. :)

Defense Grid and more

Alright, now that I’ve got Limech.com, I’m going to have to do some shifting over away from Limech.net but that will take time. However, I’m going to start posting here more often when 140 characters isn’t enough.

On the gaming front, my tendency to buy games I’m not going to play persisted when I bought CD keys for Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 (and expansion pack, no less). I did buy them real cheap and they are games that are playable on my Aspire One netbook but still, I doubt I’ll play through Diablo 2 and even reach the expansion pack. I mean, it’s not even my type of game.

A game that I bought and that I will play enough of is Defense Grid. It’s currently $5 on Steam and at that price, I’ll have enough fun to warrant that expense.

Other than that, nothing much new. Still hoping Battlefield 3 will be announced soon and that Bad Company 2 will have competition support like BFTV, demos and a spectator mode (on the PC). I’m also looking forward to Starcraft 2, especially from the broadcasting point of view.

I’m also really enjoying my new PC-350 headset from Sennheiser.

Limech.com is mine again!!!

YES!! It took about 6 years but I’ve finally secured Limech.com! A long time ago, I had a Jane’s Combat Simulations site at that address and the guys at EvilAvatar.com were responsible for the domain. But they let it expire and it took me that long to take it away from domain parkers.

Time to celebrate! :)

Got a PS3

Finally took the plunge. It was mainly to view AVCHD files but now I can play PS3 games and watch Blu-rays.
Thus far I got LBP, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Burnout Paradise and the following movies: Planet Earth, Saw and First Blood. I only buy movies if they are $18 CAN or less. No way I’m paying $35 for a movie.

Anyway, I might not update my blog often but might start to get my twitter account going. Much simpler and you don’t feel compelled to write a long blurb each time. That said, I’m out! ;)

Time flies

Yes, I know… I suck at blogs. I never update them but then again, nobody reads them so I think my updates are “just right”. As far as gaming goes, I’m mainly spending time doing casts for www.e-rev.tv and playing Call of Duty 4 on the PC. Finished Crysis (great game) and I almost never play on my 360 anymore.

Other than that, not much else to add. Didn’t join any clan still since I left Outcast. I try to stay in touch with the old boys to see what they are up to but since I don’t have time for competition well, I’m staying a lone wolf and pub all-star (well, I’d like to think so).

See you in a few months. :)

Taking off the tags

Well, after 2 years on Clan Outcast, I’ve resigned and taken off my tags. It was a difficult thing to do but it had to be done. Outcast is no longer the competitive force it was when I joined and I need to be in a team where competition is the number one drive. I don’t care about winning or losing as long as the effort is there. I’ll still hand around once in a while cause the guys there are simply awesome.

On the other front, EGLN has closed its doors but e-rev.tv is launching to pick up the slack. Hopefully e-rev.tv will be around for a long time. Summer is here, our in-ground swimming pool is done and we’ve subscribe to Zip.ca so we are catching up on years of missed movies. :) I could have joined a team now but most leagues are freezing the rosters in preparation for the playoffs and I didn’t want to join a team just for that. I’ll wait and see which teams are still hardcore about 2142 for next season and join one of those instead of jumping on one that will simply abandon 2142 for something else like Quake Wars.
